Epitaph to Smokey, Our Wonder Dog

Smokey loved chewing and slobbering on his rubber ball when he was not chasing after it. He was a pro at rolling the ball with his tongue just far enough to stop dead an inch from your toe (this was how he greeted guests (to him, they were new playmates). Smokey was also an excellent swimmer. When hot, he’d simply jump in the pool or cool himself by lying on the top step of the pool, with his body fully submerged while his head rested on the edge. He had many quirky doganalities. But most importantly, he was truly a best friend who always knew when my husband and/or I were tense or in pain or simply needed a hug. He had a magical way of easing it all. He was our beloved furperson.
