1986 – 1996
In early June of 1986 I decided it was time for another dog. I looked in the paper and there was an add for a free 2yr. old Rhodesian Ridgeback who had just had a litter of pups. I went to meet her and the owner put this huge 8 week old puppy in my arms. I told him that I wasn’t really interested in a puppy but I couldn’t put her down. She was a Pitbull Ridgeback mix. The most beautiful puppy I had ever seen. She was so smart everytime it was time to learn something new she would just do it. She was my angel and I know she was sent to save my life. She had many nicknames. Wally, Baboo, Honey Bear, and Dog Star which is what Sati’ means in Egyptian. Wally because she would sing like a walrus when I would come home. She was the friendliest dog I have ever known. Babies, people, other dogs, cats she loved everyone and everyone loved her back. She would go and do everything with me. My constant companion. On her 10th birthday she looked at me and I heard her say I won’t be around much longer. We had that kind of connection. Six months later she got ill. When I found out she only had a couple of weeks left I couldn’t bear to leave her home. I would take her to work and sneek her in the back door. We made her a bed and occationally she would wander out to visit with customers. After 2wks. she passed quietly while laying next to me in bed. I know she spared me the pain of having to make the decision to put her down. She was just that special. An Angel. I love and miss you Baboo!
