Kasie Maxwell has worked and lived with animals her entire life. Over the years, she has worked as an assistant to veterinary
homeopath, veterinary technician and assistant, working student for an A-circuit hunter/jumper stable, trainer for a Hanoverian
stable owned by a rider on the Belgian Olympic Equiestrian Team, pet-sitter, wildlife rescuer and has served as a foster home
to many rescued animals.
A vegan since 1983, Kasie soon developed a strong interest in natural foods and healing. She has studied holistic animal
husbandry for over two decades. Kasie has extenisve experience with a wide range of natural modalities including the use of
western herbs, natural diets, homeopathy, flower/gem essences, Reiki, accupressure, therapeutic massage, dietary supplement
and essential oils in both domestic and wild animals.
Aloong with her partner for over 14 years, Ron Love, Kasie started Rara Avis iin 2003. Rara Avis products are based on her
own herbal recipes used to promote wellness in a variety of animal species over the years.
She is the founder of District 5 Dog Owner's and Guardians (d5dog.org), a local dog advocacy group; webmistriss for teh
San Francisco Dog Owner's Group (sfdog.org) and founder of the San Francisco Raw Feeders (sfraw.com).
Kasie grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and lived for awhile outside of Eugene, Oregon earning her B.A. degree in
English from the University of Oregon. Ron and Kasie live in San Francisco with their family of rescued animal companions:
two Great Danes, two birds and two turtles.
